All Time Fantasy…..Pitching

logo.jpg
So yesterday while pretending to shuffle papers at my desk I was listening to the FAN590 and Chuck Swirsky posed the question, ‘who would be you goto guy with from the cache of all time to present fantastical Blue Jays pitchers?’.

There really isn’t a definitive answer.

So this got your faithful narrator thinking and mulling and ponderring, and then thinking some more;  And it occured to me, that I need to finally add a list of the top all time pitchers to your favorite Blue Jay blog according to yours truly.

So what do we make of all this, what do we take into account, when did my blog become a ‘we’ thing? Controversies aside, I’m gonna elect 5 starters and 5 in the ‘pen.

My Fav 5 :

1.

r clemens BJ.jpg
Rocket Roger Clemens  time in Toronto was nothing short of amazing.  Two of his best years of his hall of fame career were spent in the Blue Jay clubhouse.

2.

r halladay PB.jpg
Roy ‘Doc’ Halladay  is a very close second but should he add a World Series ring and another Cy Young trophy to his resume I will happily make him the number one goto guy.

3.

d stieb.jpg
Dave Stieb  who epitomized the solid starter, and anchored an team that upset the axis of evil and has a no hitter on his list of accomplishments

4. p hentgen.jpg Pat Hentgen  who was as fun to watch as hard as was to hit while he was a Blue Jay.

5.

j key.jpg
Jimmy Key  get huge props for being a catalyst in the World Series for the Blue Jays.

d wells.jpg
d cone BJ.jpg
j morris BJ.jpg

*Honorable Mentions to,  David ‘Boomer’ Wells, David Cone and Jack Morris all of whom you would find on a majority of other people’s Fav-5.

My Bullpen :

 t henke.jpg

David ‘Boomer’ Wells, Kelvim Escobar, BJ Ryan, Duane Ward and the Terminator Tom Henke

Within a 7 year span (’96, ’97, ’98, ’03) the Cy Young Award was given to a Toronto Blue Jay pitcher 4 times and Doc Halladay after being the ’03 recipiant could have bagged 2 more if his health was not an issue.

In the most challenging position in sports the Blue Jays have been blessed and the future looks bright with McGowan, Marcum and Litsch.

That’s all for now from yours faithfully…….Shine on, Cheers and Smell you later!

Conspiracy Theory: Roger Clemens

bush sr yale.JPG

You are correct, that is not Rocket Roger and no it’s not your faithful narrator, but you kinda recognize him don’t you…

This is a theory, and of course entirely unsubstantiated; however since I am not privy to the Patriot Act I will freely speak my mind.
Yeah, yeah it’s a while and you might have thought that all of a sudden I wasn’t a regular blogger, but eh it’s the Stanley Cup time of year. Enough with the B.S.

syringe.JPG

The Syringe, not too long ago equated with Jack and his magic beans that would enable one to walk with the Giants, and this isn’t an attack at Barry however, the syringe many moons ago was the magical source of power to double the length and size of a contract; sadly at the cost of the length and size of something else, however.
It occurred to me today and sorry for being a little slow, but I realized that Roger Clemens ain’t going no where in stripes; sorry Marion Jones, this isn’t a sexist thing, this is however the way it works kind of thing and it is what it is–and yeah perhaps a bit of a boys club thing like the little rascles…
The drama of Rocket Roger Clemens, who may I add is welcome as a starter on my fantasy team, whom we all saw disgraced like OJ has apparently committed perjury; only because some kid got a snap with the Rocket at a party, and his parents couldn’t hold their silence any longer with the evidence of the Rocket’s whereabouts of that particular night in question since that family of the boy stood on a side of a political fence and didn’t like the way Dr. Brian McNamee was harassed by the opposing political congressman. That makes me wonder if those athletes who, many years ago like Jose Canseco, who asked for money for those pictures and/or autographs were actually smarter than they were perceived. fbi.jpg

Anyways, Rocket Roger is now being investigated by the F.B.I. to see if he perjured himself in his congressional testimony; too bad nothing is going to happen, cue the tears Mario Jones.
Of course everyone who’s anyone that follows baseball has some knowledge of Roger Clemens; and a lesser percentage have knowledge that he is a Texan which is why he went to play for the Houston Astros; and an even lesser percentage of everyone who’s anyone that follows baseball knows that George Bush Jr. was a an owner of the Texas Rangers (and may have had knowledge of steroid abuse, however I’m not going there now); furthermore, the even smaller percentage of baseball people/fans/bloggers who may have watched some of the congressional hearing know that Rocket Roger is a good friend of the Bush family–which is where all that talk of him being pardoned of the crime came from.
Nevertheless, your truly had his Jedi senses tingling when I saw a photo of George Bush Sr. and this is where the conspiracy kicks in for those who have been patiently waiting for it.
Curious George, as he was known during the year of intelligence in 1975, which I like to call him since I can as I am not afraid of the Patriot Act until I cross the boarder again, who was the first Bush to invaded Iraq as we all know with his desert storm (I think Upper Deck did the collectable cards for it in ’92) is a bigger baseball fan than Geo Jr– George Sr. did after all play in for Yale in the first College World Series, see top of page.

That being said, I also think that is why I think Geo Jr. bought the Rangers to impress dad and no doubt with the help of the old man too; however back to the conspiracy, the Commander and Chief of 1991 United States previous held a rather important position, is the hamster turning the wheel yet, George Sr. was the head of the C.I.A. which of course is akin to the F.B.I.

cia.jpg

Need I go on?

Well in case the hamster is not spinning the wheel for those of you who like to hide the little rodents in places where the sun don’t shine, George Sr. will make certain that his buddy makes it into Cooperstown and will not wear stripes nor will he pay Dr. Brain MaNamee any monies for defamation of character.

The only trick is for Roger to grind his teeth and keep his yap shut!

This is of course my blog and no I have not any reliable sources and my beliefs are entirely unsubstantiated, and I hope that when you make any determinations that you have reliable sources and check the validity of your information.
